Blatant Understaffing for higher profit margins

Everyone i know in a service job complains about the HORRIBLE understaffing of their workplaces. I work retail as one of my jobs and it is so obvious some days that they expect me to do the job of 3+ people for literally NO extra incentives. Today for example, Saturday, we are absolutely swamped. One person called out and one person went home sick, leaving just my manager. So I have to work 12 hours to cover, and was told to get the tasks of myself, and both the sick coworkers done tonight. And that is while me and my poor manager try to keep the damn store from burning down in torches due to all the customers being enraged about our slow service and lack of help. Just the other day, I went to Starbucks to order in. There were TWO employees at 10am on Sunday morning. The building…

Just the other day, I went to Starbucks to order in. There were TWO employees at 10am on Sunday morning. The building was so full of people it felt like a nightclub. They had one person taking orders for drive thru and in store, and one person making ALL the food and drink. Both of them were quite literally crying while they served people and got yelled at. I was so angry for them but all I could do was leave a measly 5 dollar tip.

How are these conditions okay? How can customer service in America be held to such high standards yet the stores themselves are neglected so badly? The same people that complain starbucks takes forever don't think they should be paid any more.

If you're making 2 people do the job of six, they need to be paid 3x.

Stop blaming service workers for slow and poor service and start bringing torches to the corporate headquarters setting these conditions up.
