I was running a multi-million dollar business by myself. Grew it 20x in 2 years and it was grossing $15mil/yr (net $10mil/yr) so when financial accusations are made, it's serious.
The president and treasurer sat me down for an unrelated topic, and ambushed me with the accusation of financial wrongdoing. I was surprised as hell, asked for clarification multiple times, and they smugly pulled out a one page letter they “found” from our accountants summarizing multiple accounting problems in the previous year. I guess they didn't read closely, because it was signed by me and presented to them over a year ago, so it was not only referencing a time before I was in charge, it was presented by me as well. In fact, many of those same issues were either already resolved or very nearly so.
No apologies once I angrily explained this to them. They simply defended themselves in their right to protect the business, and multiple excuses about how busy and important they are so they can't be at fault for a false accusation. Then the gaslighting about how they weren't accusing me at all, and I was overreacting to their legitimate concerns.
Just had to vent. Thanks for reading. (EDIT: I left very soon after this and a few other incidents)
