Boomers are the biggest bootlickers and labor rights will never make progress until they’re retired

Or dead… My parents would be scabs if they worked in a trade. They think the writer’s strike is misguided and don’t understand how the UAW gave up so much during 08 in order for taxpayer funded companies to take in billions in profits over the last decade. Meanwhile they sacrifice body and mind for their wage jobs in their 50s and 60s to maintain health insurance. My father has severe arthritis in his knees and can hardly walk down a flight of stairs without needing to sit for the next 10 minutes. But it’s undiagnosed. My parents would be scabs if they worked in a trade.

And it takes weeks of doctors visits, scheduling radiology, follow up appointments to get a real diagnosis. In the meantime, he feels like he needs to go to his $50k a year office job while he is essentially crippled because he “doesn’t have a FMLA qualifying medical condition”. No amount of federal documentation can convince him that he has the right to take time off for medical reasons. He’s fighting tooth and nail to clock in early and late nights so he can go to doctor’s appointments during the workday, because he’s out of sick time after a week of Covid in the spring. I gave him examples of my FMLA leave for a minor surgery where I was more capable to work than he is for a less demanding job and he refused to believe he would qualify, as he groans and hobbles up the stairs…

Whoever brainwashed that generation did a number on them.

Also less work related, he was turned away from an urgent care because they didn’t take his insurance so he had to go to the ER. Guess what his opinion on single payer healthcare is…
