I can't believe I've been here almost a year. I work in event planning, I'm a manager.
My boss thinks that I should be able to teach myself literally everything, and when I can't, she tells me I'm failing at my job. I do my best to figure out whatever I can, but at some point, as a Director, you do have to be proactive about training your employees on things you know they know nothing about. She wants me to ask questions I don't even know exist to ask. It's sheer stupidity.
She hasn't taught me a single thing. And she is NEVER here. She is in office MAYBE 12 hours a week and is incredibly hard to get ahold of and then reprimands me for not “asking enough questions”. I have 36 groups between now and April and she has 6. She told me “you're going to have a very busy fall/winter and next year you will be busy all year.” and in the same breath tells me “your workload is really not that big, you barely have anything going on.”
She is the worst boss I have ever had. I'm here in office 40 hours a week and she doesn't speak to me, any day off I have, she blows me up. So I essentially never have a day off. I went out of the country for my birthday a few weeks ago, and she blew me up about work, didn't wish me a happy birthday, and I finally just blocked her number while I was out.
I've put out several applications in the last few weeks, I'm completely done with this place.
