I worked for a huge (and extremely profitable) department of a tech company.
My boss deeply praised in front of coworkers and others managers. I had very high performance for a long time and they are very happy for how much I helped the department.
One week later he told me that I'm laid off, account deactivated at the end of the very same day.
I asked “why? I'm such a good worker and you know it”
He answered that I'm “not a good fit”. No more explanation.
There were no fights, no work mistakes, the environment was great with coworkers and everything.
It's simply no sense that all of a sudden I got laid off and neither boss or other managers have anything to say about.
They paid me all regularly and an honest severance, it's just that I don't understand the meaning of cutting a great worker without notice and that is also in a good relationship with everyone. The department is also doing very well financially.
I saw other people being cut in past, but they were extremely bad at work, and anyway they were cut after several advices, not without notice.
Anyone has opinions?
