I’ve just resigned from my casual management hospitality job as I have accepted a teaching job (I just graduated). I resigned effective immediately as I only have a week to prepare and plan before the term starts. My boss replied to my emailing saying he was disappointed nted and letting the team down because I gave short notice. I know short notice isn’t ideal but they were made aware that my timeline for getting qualified and leaving was unclear and unpredictable.
I will apparently, according to his email and text, be leaving the team short as I won’t be working my shift this Friday. In the past week two other managers have quit and one other is on carers leave. Apparently my boss can’t cover it because he is going away with his family for the day.
How do I respond to the email? I feel so guilty
FYI this is in Australia.
Edit: thank you everyone for the overwhelming support! I will be replying professionally and simply tomorrow stating that I will not be working.
Update: he took all the shifts off my roster without me having to reply. I think he got the hint!
