I've been working for a bit more than 3 months as a seasonal worker in agriculture. Tough work, in tough conditions. But I liked it, enjoyed working with my colleagues and learning a lot.
It was different from my previous jobs, since I used to be a front end developper lol. Because of that, I'm not quite used to working outside by negative temperatures.
2 weeks ago, I was feeling sick, since my heater had been broken for almost a month. Still went to work on monday, and on wednesday, I started feeling quite dizzy, on the verge of vomitting, so my boss told me to put my bike in his truck & he would drive me home.
On the way, he told me I was sick too often, and that a 57yo dude asked for a job and he was undecided atm on who to keep. Mind you, I'm 27, been working with him for a while now, despite the seasonal contract being absolute shit (They call me only when they need me, so I can work 35h a week, or none at all, their choice. All for minimum wage of course).
I was pissed of him telling me “He, you're sick too much, maybe I'll hire someone else instead.” . I get home & started looking for job offers elsewhere.
Last week, they somehow go from a lot of work to no work, therefore I'm not needed (and no work for me means no money). Fine, whatever, I'm chilling home playing video games.
On saturday, I see him on the marketplace, where he tells me they're in the shit financially, “forgot” about a loan (just a small one, 28k euros, not much right ?), so they won't be able to hire me going forward. I'll be paid for January, and that's it. So I tell him, fine, I'll be looking elsewhere. I've been bored of that farm tho so it was very much fine by me.
Yesterday, he calls me, asking me to come back to work with them because “I don't have anyone to work”. Turns out, he hired the 57yo dude for 4 days last week, hence why I couldn't work, and I believe the dude simply didn't come back after seeing how things were running.
So now, I'm being called back ? What a shame, if he offered me a proper contract, instead of pulling this sick moves, I would have stayed. Now ? Guess he can suck it up, no way I'm going back
