I started an entry level salesperson position 2 months ago, I graduated college in late April, so this is my first full-time position ever. I’m getting used to the grind, I get along with basically all my coworkers, I enjoy my workspace and I enjoy what I do, so in general it’s fine, but the main issue is with my boss. I work in minor league baseball for reference.
He is extremely neglectful, and there’s so many examples of it that I’m basically tired of already.
- Wasn’t trained in new CRM system for a whole month, asked him 6 times before he finally did, and he didn’t train me thoroughly enough.
- Had to ask 4 times to be put on call rotation for salespeople (really important to bring in call in groups).
- Got a call-in to purchase single tickets (I usually deal with bigger groups), so didn’t know how to operate the single ticket CRM system due to no training, customer got angry at me, begged a coworker to save it for me.
- We need walkie talkies for gameday communications, wasn’t given one and when I inquired he said “oh shit I forgot”. ????? Spent that week with no walkie talkie.
- He invites the two other salespeople to 4 other networking events so far, I haven’t gotten one. I ask and he says “the next one for sure” every time.
- Doesn’t tell me how to fill out a group contract, and when I’m on my first sales call with him watching he’s getting mad since I have no clue how to fill in the info properly as some of it requires algorithms.
- Doesn’t tell me how to fill out season ticket contracts, just gives me a letter with a check and says fill out the contract, have to ask other salesperson to help me.
Also instances of being put down/disrespected.
- Dirty looks whenever I pass him in office
- Yelled at to “scan it!” (Tickets) in front of fans (biggest ever f*cking no no in sports, almost went off right there).
- Told him I made my first sale off a cold call/prospect and he said “K” whilst rest of sales office congratulated me.
Really really annoyed at it and I’m wondering if I should just confront him when the seasons up to nip it in the bud, because I don’t want it to become any worse really than it is now. I don’t wanna quit or anything, I just want it to get better because everything else is enjoyable.
