I know the title makes me sound petty/childish but I’m pissed.
I’m the marketing manager at a small business. My bosses are young (22 and 25) and don’t have much/any previous job experience. They literally used the money one of them got for their high school graduation to start the business, and one had never had a job before this.
There is a huge industry conference in our city next week and my bosses started talking about going, which I was pumped for. I assumed that I’d definitely be getting a ticket to go seeing as I’m the Marketing Manager and do quite a bit of business development for them, but you know what happens when you assume.
I was just told that I won’t be getting a ticket but our shipping manager, who is boss’s BFF, gets to go because “she deserves a break to have some fun.” Never mind that she can barely develop a thought of her own, much less business.
And all this after I found out this morning that I’m undervalued something like $15k for my skills, education and experience.
So I’m done! I’ll be doing the bare minimum required to keep my job for a few months until I can move onto something new, and they can kiss the 13% increase in traffic/sales GOODBYE!
