to make a LONG story short, i am an instructor at a fitness facility. when i started this job, i was told we would always be alerted 24 hours (or more) in advance to an instruction lesson someone signs up for (we have set timeslots for people to sign up for lessons with us, but we are a pretty slow gym so most of them go unfilled which means you wouldn't have to come in to work). about two weeks ago on Sunday, i missed a lesson because no one told me someone signed up, and i didn't have a shift scheduled on my app. prior to this, i had NEVER missed a lesson because i had been told 24 hours in advance and had a shift on our app. a couple days after that, my boss sent a message to all the instructors saying our shifts are our responsibility and we have to either log in to a computer (the lesson scheduling system is not connected to our app and is only available via computer) or we can call the gym to see if we are scheduled. basically our boss is the middle man and has to manually add those shifts into our app/make sure the instructors know they have a lesson. but now she doesn't want to do that job and is trying to make us call the gym in our free time to see if we MAYBE have a shift the following day. i'm leaving a lot of details out because this is a very complicated situation but does this seem ridiculous or what? what do you guys think i should say to my bosses on Tuesday?
