Hello, curious to know if anyone else has had this problem before (I’m almost 100% sure someone has)
I work as a store manager l for a certain telecommunications company in Ireland, and we were promised a €500 loyalty bonus at the end of June 2023 for 6 months of continuous service, with another €500 being paid out in December for the same.
The end of June has been and gone, I’ve asked senior management numerous times what the story with the bonus is, to a lot of vague answers, ‘it’s being sent in the post’, ‘it’s being handed out in person by the CEO’ etc.
Here comes the kicker
Today after asking senior management (HR, area manager) they have said that they don’t know what’s happening, and to ask the CEO directly, which I have done. 20 minutes after reading my message, he calls me to inform me that the bonus is in fact performance based. And that there will be no bonus paid out to the store for poor performance. (we are an extremely quiet shop with little opportunity to hit the targets given)
What can I do about this? Nowhere in the post does it say ANYTHING about the bonus being performance based, the title is literally: Loyalty Bonus. I have told my coworkers and other managers of other stores in the region as a heads up, but is there anything that can be done?
Appreciate any advice you can give 🙂
PS. Yes I have already applied for a different job, this has left a really really sour taste in my mouth.
