Boss thinks my employee’s mom should support the business and not their daughter

What the title says. I have a 19 year old employee with a chronic illness who works part-time (less than 20 hours per week) and I’ve met her mother. She’s a sweet kid. She worked a longer than normal shift (8 hours versus 5.5 hours) and the mom texted me (not called) from her daughter’s phone that she had come after the long day and fell asleep at 4 pm and slept for 17 hours. I’ve met her mom and she’s a kind woman who loves her daughter. I told my boss I needed to limit the length of her shifts and this was his response: “Someone's mom called you?  Wow.  The mom needs to support you and the operation and not how tired their daughter is. I'm mystified. But we have to embrace this new workforce” This is completely deranged. Support the business over her own daughter? What the…

This is completely deranged. Support the business over her own daughter? What the fuck??? This place has made me so bitter and angry. I can’t wait to leave.
