True story, sharing because I can’t help but laugh
Former workaholic here, partially because of personal desire to succeed and also wanting to advance with company.
After realizing that late nights and skipping lunch/breaks wasn’t getting me anywhere I started prioritizing work life balance. Now I take my breaks, leave my desk for lunch, and arrive/leave on time (nothing more).
Boss man pulled me in and said it looks like I’m no longer invested and that if I will no longer be considered for a manager role if I’m not willing to work through my lunches or into the evening.
That would have bothered me before. Now I can’t help but laugh because it completely reinforces my thoughts toward the boss/company
