I’ll start by saying that I like my job. I like the location, the role, and I get on with my colleagues, with the exception of the manager. He is incredibly toxic and is the reason that 7 out of the 12 people in the team are actively seeking other employment.
Here’s the issue:
My contracted hours are Monday to Friday 8-4. Recently my boss has been granting leave to anyone who requests it without checking whether there’s cover. He’s given all the weekend staff the weekend off and he’s asked me to cover. I have plans (tickets for events, family commitments, etc.) every weekend in June and my boss is pissed that I said no to covering leave he has already approved. So now he’s told me that, from now on, I need to let him know any time I make plans (and what the plans are) on weekends.
I’ve applied for 4 jobs today and put in 4 applications last week. I need to get out of there.
