Throwaway
I asked for a raise last year and my boss said that he can't give me a raise because I did not do a small task he asked me too. I work for a small company and I need to be a the clients house by 8:30am, sometimes the clients house is over 30 minutes away. So I don't have a lot of time to complete other tasks outside of my day to day. I was talking to my boss and somehow we got onto the topic of money and he said that it's not how much money you have its how you spend it. Basically I'm not getting a raise because I don't need one I just need to spend my money differently. Also my coworker who was haired a week after me makes $5 more then I do. I feel like he is giving me excuses not to pay me more. Also we went on a work trip and I had to board my dog for the days that I was gone. My boss would give me extra money here and there. To me this makes me feel sense he gives me extra money off the books that makes up for not paying me enough. My plan in the next year is to switch careers to software engineer but that will be a bit before I can. I honestly don't know what I should do.
