Brazil, also is a much better place to be a employee when it comes to labor laws:
maternity leave (120 days paid by employer) if you give birth or adopt;
miscarriage (14 paid days off);
30 days of vacation after working 12 months + 1/3 of the monthly payment that needs to paid before the vacation period starts (yes, you get paid to go on vacation + 1/3 the month salary extra pay before you go on vacation),
11 (eleven) paid holidays,
bereavement (I’m not sure but from what I recall it’s 3 paid days);
you can also take 1-3 years off work (without pay) and come back to work (a sabbatical of sorts) with no (official/legal) consequences.
I’m not sure about sick days.
During the World Cup, not an official holiday, but nobody is expected to work on the days that the Brazilian team is playing, unless you’re a bus driver, or in health care ( or other essential worker), even banks will be closed.
If you make decent money, Brazil might be one of the true “workers paradises.”
Lol I forgot: people in the formal economy also gets a 13th monthly salary that is paid before Christmas. If you worked the previous 12 months, it’s a full salary (the 13th salary of the year). If you worked only 6 (six) months in the previous year, you get one half month salary – you get the idea of proportionality.
