Built the operations for small business. Company grew substantially, mediocre raise, I quit.

The company is increasing the workforce 3x to accommodate growth. When I joined 2 years ago, I took the risk at a low salary for a small business. Now my work has moved the company to another level. I asked for a substantial raise, got rejected, so I quit. I got their operations moved into an independent warehouse, built a WMS myself, and have run every aspect of operations. Contract negotiations, shipping/receiving, training employees, drayage, the entire U.S. operation. I got their operations moved into an independent warehouse, built a WMS myself, and have run every aspect of operations. Contract negotiations, shipping/receiving, training employees, drayage, the entire U.S. operation.

The company has doubled in revenue, becoming a medium sized business, largely due to the operational pillar I built and the x-factor of showing the owner how to gain value through metrics and gorilla marketing. The company was a “finger in the air” and “best guess” tactics when I got there. Now I’ve created firm metrics and data which have had >90% accuracy in growth, forecasting, and inventory.

I can prove with metrics that my sole efforts in savings and profits combined is 500k/year. Am I right to ask for a 50k raise? They offered 15k raise, where I was at my previous job.

The owner says I am changing responsibilities and need to prove myself in the new role managing people. I have 10 years hard experience doing that. Could take 2 years before seeing the salary I seek.

Was I right to quit, or should I have stuck it out for the long run?
