Called into work today

Im using a throw away for privacy reasons. I live in Oregon – my place of work has been pretty chill, most of the supervisers great except for ONE who I do not even need to deal with on a regular basis since he is on a different shift than I work. I called in to my work this morning about 2.5 hours before my shift and wouldn't you know it, I got this jackass. I let him know I was calling to let them know I wasn't going to be there today (I don't call out very often but when I have this has been fine with anyone else I have spoken to). He asks me what is wrong and so I tell him I am not feeling well and then he wants to know what symptoms I have because of “covid.” I tell him it isn't covid but…

He asks me what is wrong and so I tell him I am not feeling well and then he wants to know what symptoms I have because of “covid.” I tell him it isn't covid but it I'm not feeling well.

Basically he was annoyed I wouldn't tell him symptoms and then cried up to the head boss who called me and is randomly telling me he'll see if hr thinks my explanation of having a condition that flares up sometimes is good enough.

This is coming from a workplace where we get call outs(quite a few) every Monday and Friday, and I know they don't require something like a doctors note, they don't get pushed up to higher management, and again, I
rarely am a call out.

I feel extremely uncomfortable at the prospect of having to explain a personal medical issue.

Any tips? Anyone know if this is legal, or in the very least could possibly direct me on where to start my research?
