Calling Off Rant

I know this sub is biased, but I'd like to get this off my chest. I really resent the fact that deciding whether or not you're a piece of shit for calling off is the immediate feeling I get when deciding to do so. I literally google whether it's justifiable to call off each time I do. I get that there are employees who abuse the “sick day” policy to no end, but there's something amiss when the majority of our culture automatically assumes that to be what's happening. For context, this is my 4th time calling off in 4 months, so about once a month. I work in a warehouse, and I guarantee I'm not putting a strain on anything by not being there. I am trying to reign in my anxiety issues, but working a job that I don't find fulfilling really doesn't help and provides zero incentive to suck it up. (I'm currently trying to enlist, so hopefully I won't be here much longer).

I also find it strange that once a month is considered “excessive” when someone else pointed out that once a month is still about 5% of your entire working schedule, assuming full time.

Hopefully more companies (and people) catch on that there's more to an employee than whether or not they drag themselves to a job they don't enjoy.
