Starting a new job tomorrow driving a company vehicle with a camera in it. Because the job is picking people up from work sites and taking them home the company has a camera in the vehicle that reports any unsafe actions the driver takes. Speeding, talking on the phone, following other vehicles to close, etc. To be clear I don't entirely disagree with this since it is in the interest of everyone's safety and vehicle accidents are a major problem. But the idea of having this camera constantly watching me just waiting for me to make a mistake has me seriously stressed out.
Today my manager had me drive to some of the harder-to-find pickup sites we use and the entire time I kept second-guessing myself wondering if I was remembering the speed limit wrong or if I was too close to a vehicle ahead of me. And the manager did tell me a few times to back off from another vehicle.
I have no idea how I'm going to manage this job when I start tomorrow and I can't afford not to take it. Typical catch 22 I'm going to be miserable no matter what happens.
