I’m looking at home prices in my area and nothing is lower than 400k. A decade ago homes were in the 200s and 300s. Now a crappy home that needs major repairs is in the upper 200s and new homes being built at the bare minimum are in the lower 400s. If you get lucky you’ll find a small house bare bones in the 300s.
I know this doesn’t compare to you guys in HCOL areas but I’m feeling sick looking at these prices. I don’t earn that much and its so hard to get a good paying job. My cousin earns around 200k and I’m starting to think she is one of the lucky ones. Those people will be able to afford one of these homes. She goes on expensive vacations every month and has a hefty investment account. She is looking for a home and her husband earns around the same. Another friend earns 200k and she bought a home at 24.
The rest of us can suck it I guess. I don’t know if getting a home is in my future.
