Some background information- a uk based company, I started in July after being made redundant, he payed for my HGV Class 2 license in order for me to do the job, with the verbal agreement I would pay it back if I quit within 2 years (this cost around £2500) even though he claimed through a react+ scheme to receive money every 13 weeks to take me on which was up to £3000
Since then I never received a contract of employment and have been treated very poorly. I was told it would be 40 hours a week at £13.50 pay but it won’t be that until I’ve been out on my own in the truck
Where as it’s only been £12.50 and more like 48 hours a week if not more. And I have been out on my own in the truck since day one.
I often get a lot of verbal abuse while working and take a lot of shit from him generally throughout the day and the company is so poorly managed I often don’t know where I’m going or how long I’ll be working in a day.
There is no respect and if anything goes wrong during the day it’s my fault normally and I get lectured about how my generation is basically useless, I’m 22 and he is in his early 60s
I feel like now I don’t have a choice to leave because I’m so miserable I dread every minuite of every day and so anxious to know what’s coming next. But I don’t earn nearly enough to be able to afford to pay him back and leave. I really don’t know what to do so if there is any advice or further information I would happily appreciate it. Thank you
