Can my employer withhold my severance after they fire me?

My employer wants to fire me and is asking me to agree and sign that I'll be working to phase out my role. This only means they'll get out of the prescribed ESA severance and I won't be eligible for EI. My ideal situation would be that they fire me and ask me to stop working instantly but I know they would want to get every last bit of work out of me (effing slugs that they are). If I refuse to sign a voluntary resignation (which I will) and they fire me instead and I am forced to serve 2 weeks notice, are there any grounds on which they could withhold my 2 weeks severance (assuming I do my job as normal but don't put in the extra effort)?
