I keep hearing this as a complaint, but no real conversation around it… and I just don’t get it. What gives?
I hear the usual “people are abusing the system” (social welfare, I assume). I’ve also heard “unemployment rates are low because people have stopped looking for work”.
Then there are the stats about jobs that have been added to the economy. And people on this subreddit who are struggling to land a job. I look at the people around me and life is ROUGH. I don’t see people choosing not to work.
Can someone explain: what is the logic behind this and what is the reality? Evidence based answers tickle my brain. Please and thank you.
