I’ve just realized the true beauty of Randall’s character from the Clerks movies. On the surface, he doesn’t give a fuck beyond doing the bare minimum at work. He does however care very deeply…about his coworkers.
He talks and jokes around with EVERYONE. Even the weird religious kid Elias from Clerks II, while he is in fact ripping on him most of the time, he is still giving him lots of attention and asks questions about him, and genuinely seems curious about the answers. He also never hesitates to include him in the fun and conversations with others.
And that’s not even touching on his deep devotion to Dante Hicks.
I want to be like Randall. Do an adequate job, nothing more, but be free to absolutely joke around and shoot the shit with my coworkers. And defend them against asshole customers. Because work fucking sucks and we’re all in this together so we might as well have fun where we can.
