My job I loved burned down this Monday while I was at home. They have started to reach out via robocalls and emails. One email has stated they will continue to pay us our normal pay. My concern is how long and what are my options Goin forward. Are they going rebuild? I'm going crazy waiting for answers. Link to local news. https://www.whsv.com/video/2023/09/18/drone-video-verona-fire-submitted-whsv/ The people that worked here were amazing to work with. I hope this company helps out somehow especially the guys that have worked here for 20+ years.

How do I stop feeling guilty
i have called out of work an ungodly amount of times these past few months for many reasons (including mental health reasons). My job isn’t even terrible in terms of schedule, they barely have me working but dear god is it so physically and mentally draining.im not normally given a heads up when a shift is canceled on me until right before it starts, but somehow bc im the one calling out i feel so bad🥲. I was going to bite the bullet and just go into my shift for the day only to find out my car had given up on me. I’m only finding out now since I haven’t driven it in 2 days and i feel like burying myself under a rock bc i feel so bad for calling out. my rational (or delusional?) side of the brain is telling me to calm down, it’s not like…
I’m not sure if this will end up being a long story or not, but just in case, bear with me. I worked for my current employer(yes, current and former) for 6.5 years and decided it was time to move to another company. I am in manufacturing, I am a senior fabricator and was the lead on the night shift crew. Also I live a little over an hour away. Found a company that is a 10 minute drive from my home. Interviewed with them and they were going to pay me just a dollar less than what I was making. ( felt I had to try it, I thought it would be foolish not to.) I put my notice in, and all was well. They weren’t happy to see me go, but they didn’t do anything to keep me. So off I went to the new company. Well, 2…
Feeling Frustrated
I have been on oxygen and on unpaid medical leave since the middle of July. It has been that long finding a diagnosis. This diagnosis will require surgery. It was recommended to me to take unpaid medical leave from work because I couldn’t fulfill my duties. Turns out that my blood oxygen levels were dropping to less than 82% which puts me at risk of falling. At this point I can only walk twenty feet without feeling like I’m going to pass out. My immediate supervisor has seen me get dizzy and almost fall. She was the one who recommended I take medical leave. Today I got a text from my immediate supervisor asking if I was ready to come back to work. I said no because I’m very sick and waiting for surgery. She then told me to come in and move the very heavy, vast amount of stuff…
Reported predatory CEO to HR – now what?
Please refer to my previous post! I’ve reported my predatory CEO to HR after he made repeated sexual advances towards me and I rejected him. CEO issued me with a “warning” this week following claiming that my work performance was not up to scratch. Total bollocks as I’ve had a bonus and received numerous emails from staff from other departments praising his department. In an email I wrote to HR saying his actions left me with no choice but to come forward as I feel that this is retaliation. We now have a meeting on Monday. Found out HR is friends with his wife so hopefully she might find out! How best to prepare for this?
Need help with pto policy
So I’d been working at a large soda company, really shitty place with poor management and really high turnover rate. I only stayed there because I needed the experience on my resume. A while back I’d gotten my 5 days of pto, and never used it. I had my next job lined up and the company was suspending me for 4 days for missing 3 days of work. This just pissed me off and made me want to quit sooner. I checked over the vacation policy and it said if you quit or are terminated you still get the payout, didn’t mention any exceptions. I asked my supervisor if I quit do I still get pto, and he said yes. I then said “I quit effective immediately” (this was at the end of my shift, I didn’t walk out during my shift or anything) he asked me if I wanted…
I think I understand what happened now, and I kind of hate you for it. Not only you, of course, but you most of all, because you pretended to be my friend and then used that information to add salt to the wound by making the issue more personal. I hope you feel bad, because you would have known what buttons to push to make what happened happen. You knew I didn’t like drama, you knew I always want everybody to like me, and you knew about my major anxiety issues, and you used them all against me just because you wanted me to get fed up and quit so you didn’t have to fire me. I don’t really care who initiated what went down or why. All I know is that I was as good an employee as I was able to be, and whenever I made mistakes, I…
Would you quit my job?
I’ve (22F) been debating quitting my job but the benefits are decent, I’m not sure if the grass is greener anywhere else. I’m a bartender (with no degree) averaging $1-2k/week working 40-60hrs. But my body aches from how physically/mentally tiring it is I’m too exhausted to get out of bed outside of work. It’s the best paying job I can find at my experience/age but I feel depressed to enjoy the money I make. Even on vacation I get multiple texts a day to promote/train/questions. When I get home I’m bombarded about work and dread going in days before I go back. Pros: – paid hourly (most bars here pay under table) – I like all of my coworkers, no drama – flexible schedule, can call off any day with 2+week notice – consistent good pay. I have a $2k week every month – I love bartending Cons: – not…
