This is probably the final stop for me

Years after being discharged from the military thrown away as I'm garbage, took a few years to get my life back then the 08 crisis came along. Been to school all the way up to near Masters. Have had numerous health problems but kept going (told to suck it up and shut up by family , doctors, etc) and was a fighter in abusive work environments until last year when my employer drove me to near suicide. Finally broke down went to the VA and getting great care. My health problems aren't getting any better and neither is my mental health. For the most part I work in a protected environment I'd say sterile work from home minimal interactions but we got a new manager (you know one to show who's boss) and things are changing. Talking to us like kids, pretending he's a people person, “late night” grind to…

New owners at a mom and pop pizzeria

Hello, I’ve worked at this pizzeria for 5 years and managed it for 2. Today I came to work for my 8:00 am shift to find out my boss had sold the restaurant and new owners were taking over today. I was instructed that the new owners were setting up a new payroll system resulting in the restaurant not being opened today, which I was scheduled for and showed up for. I was in disbelief that the old owner had decided to not share any information on a potential sell occurring and to find a buyer with no previous pizza making or selling experience. I was wondering if there is any steps anyone knows to take here in Washington state to protect myself from the possibility of being jobless because of a switch in owners so quickly?

Put my two weeks in; having a great time

Hey everybody! I know we're all pretty cynical and fans of the “they don't give you two weeks notice when they fire you, so why should you give them two weeks notice when you quit” mindset. However, I gotta say, I put my two weeks in two days ago and have never enjoyed my job more. My dumb boss had to put his tail between his legs and figure out another way to train my two work besties because his plan of getting someone to poorly train me, for me to then poorly train them won't work anymore. I gave him a scathing review for all the shady and/or illegal shit I've caught him doing in the last year and a half of working for him on my resignation survey, but HR is pretty overloaded so they should only be getting to it once it's time for me…

This part of a job post gave me a good laugh

Interpretation: 1. You will be paid for one position while doing the work of multiple positions, possibly working on other projects within the company too. 2. Our communication culture is like my dad: nowhere to be seen. You'll have to figure stuff out on your own and God forbid you screw up: all hell will raise and the wrath of the titans will fall upon you and only you. 3. If you complain about being given responsibilities that are out of your skill and education description and DEFINITELY out of your salary level you will be let go in no time. 4. Again, if you had even a 0.0001% faith that you are gonna be trained, instructed or guided, we are writing this to make sure that the thought never crosses your mind. I really don't know what to make of this. Do people really read this and say “yeah…

My boss got mad for telling him I’m payed by the hour.

My boss got mad because I was told to work faster and I jokingly said I'm paid by the hour. Apparently the joke was so funny HR wanted to hear and I got written up for it. What do you guys think?

Feeling lazy after a year with no raise

I work in IT at an MSP. If you don't know, MSPs are basically sweat shops for IT techs. It's good experience for new workers but a lot of work and stress and high turn over rate. Anyway, a year in and no raise and I'm feeling pretty lazy to finish tasks or try as hard. Well lazy isn't the right word. Unmotivated. I've learned enough to put stuff on my resume for a higher paying job. Plus I'm mentoring a new worker who is replacing another one who got laid off. So I let him do the work since he's getting paid $10 more than me! He's the owner's nephew

How long would you wait for benefits?

So back story, I've been at my job for about 10 months. I previously was part time, because my boss told he never hires on anyone full time until the 6 month mark so that he doesn't get screwed over with giving benefits. The past month I've been working full time, actually have been working more than full time and haven't heard anything about my benefits. I know my boss has been a bit stressed lately with some staffing shortages so I don't want to bother him by asking if it's too soon. Should this have been offered to me by now? There was really no formal convo about me going full time, it was just short staffed so I had to pick up shifts then it just continued and he said these are my new hours. My job is stressful qs fuck and I’m worried they’re just leading me…
