My boss literally just told me that “seeing somebody do the task you asked them to do isn't good enough, you have to actually go behind them and check that they did it.” Which normally, yeah, go make sure it got done fully and done well. But like… when I ask somebody to get the trash out of a single room (which is what this was in reference to in the first place)? And I'm standing right there because I'm working on something else? And I physically watch them go in, take the trash out, and put a fresh bag in? What am I supposed to check??? There was nothing wrong, by the way. He just asked me how I knew that this employee had done it, and I told him I watched them do it because I was standing right there when they did it. I am so tired…

Boss gave me this letter to sign saying he’ll take back the raise if I don’t do a better job. I’ve been working here for 7 years and I’m a hard worker.. I’m expected to do all material deliveries, site clean up, and everything else noted in this letter.. it really makes me think wtf I’ve been working so hard for if I’m not appreciated.
Question: California Uniforms
Do I have to wear the jacket and hoodies that the company sells? The company says that we have to wear black or blue pants, shirts that they provide, and steel toe boots. They give us money for safety shoes, they also give us a uniform stipend meant generically for uniforms (we all buy the pants with that), and they give us company tee shirts. They want us to ONLY wear the hoodies and jackets that they sell. No khaki Carhart jackets, no sports hoodies… We work outside, at night 98% of the time and it gets really cold. Can the company obligate us to buy their hoodies and jackets??
advice with not getting paid overtime?
I currently work as a network engineer. I only get paid 40 hrs a week and there are many times I have to work up to 11 or 12 hrs a day especially dealing with prep work for multiple IT projects. Me and my coworkers are going to eventually bring it up to our manager. I doubt we will get paid overtime after this meeting or if our manager can convince the higher ups to have us get paid overtime. I dont have a backup, if I do get fired after the meeting that will happen in the future.

I hate advertising
I work in advertising and when I watch TV at the end of the day all i get are advertisements for tech for my job. I am part of the problem I hate so much
Work takes away the best hours of my day and leaves me the dregs. 1 hour commute each way and 8-9 hours sitting in an office kills all my energy and motivation and will to live. After fighting through rush hour traffic home, all I can do is collapse in bed and mindlessly consume social media until I pass out. If I want any time off, I have to beg for it and it’s limited to a couple measly days a year so I don’t look bad. Over the weekends, I don’t even want to leave the house since I spend so much goddamn time commuting and away from the house during the week that I just want to stay home, in my bed, and enjoy the very limited time I have to just chill. I’m asking in this sub in particular because if anyone knows how to keep an employee happy it would be the ones who have been slighted the hardest. Obviously respect, living wage, PTO, benefits, health, dental, 401k… but what else can I do for my people to get the best work from them? What can I give to ensure that the people who put their time and effort into this business stay happy? Hiring a remote US team, if that makes a difference.
