First I want to state, I am a hard worker, I try to go above and beyond to a certain extent, but a few years ago I was working so much more without getting paid I drained myself and never will I do that again. I work 0630-1500 (we have to take a mandatory lunch) my team lead works 0700-1630 (he gets every other Friday off though) I work five 8’s. It was 1455 yesterday, I started packing my stuff up (also I was in the office at 0605 so I was already working more than I get paid for. My team lead turns to me and another kid and says “I know you all are done at 1500, but how about staying until 1630” Honestly I laughed….I really thought he was joking, so I said “only if I get paid for it” his response was “well you all are…

It’s all about the ~ connections ~
So i learnt that a colleague from another department got promoted to a level above me. Yes I'm kinda salty about it because of the nepotism in this organisation. Employers hiring people they like to fill in the positions who then hire other people they like as well. It's a vicious cycle. I like my boss & my team. It's just disappointing that because we are not the ~ favourite department ~ of the upper management even though they rely on us base on the wealth of our experience. It disgusts me now thinking that i have been helping to check this colleague's work so far. I'd get over it but, man. It has always been about who you know. Work “smart”, not work hard, yo.
Can I get in trouble for my profile pic?
my pfp is me sleeping in my work suit on an office chair. no, i wasn’t sleeping on the job, just thought it might’ve been funny. but theoretically speaking, could i face any repercussions for this?
Taking the Cake – Amused at Management
Long Read – Its more of a sharing, amusing, and venting of situation. Perhaps you will find it funny as well. Full disclosure I came to this job due to the lax job requirements and setting. It is an overnight security guard position. In the process of onboarding I had two conditions for the job: 1) May I bring my computer with me and work on it? 2) May I watch the woods for wild life? The answers were yes. Additionally I would like to point out Security is not glamorous job. Often under paid and the scope of the work isn't always related to security. Im very familiar with this industry from younger years from regular guard to an Operations Manager. The main meal – My nightly co-worker has been an officer for 2+ years. His tasks are to provide access control to the community, sign in workers…
Ghosted before interview
I’m wondering if anyone had a similar experience as this is the second time someone reaches out for an interview and ghosts me completely at the time of the online interview that they’ve set up. Is this normal? What are your theories on why this keeps happening? My fear is that they read the CV right before the interview time and decide I’m not worth their time after all. Clearly I’m bummed out but is this normal?
This is a long one, there will be a tldr! A bit of background: During an unpaid internship in Korea I begrudgingly took (we'll call the company I Interned at Q-Brute), I helped Q-Brute expand into Germany (I speak German and English) I set up a major business deal with a company in Germany we'll call Bodenlos. I had to set up the meetings and do all the emails as Bodenlos doesn't have any English speakers and I'm the only German speaker at Q-Brute. My job offer: My internship ended before the deal closed, as the two companies were still in talks. Because of this, Q-Brute offered me a part-time job 10hrs per week, online and flexible. My supervisor told me I'd be involving myself closely within the Germany expansion continuing to translate, interpret and research. I offered Q-Brute €16 per hour and they didn't try to lower my price…
So I'm currently in that weird break where you feel good after throwing up and my boss has yet to see my “I'm sick sorry” message and I'm a bit worried. Recently he told us to call the building instead of texting and I tried but turns out the number is disconnected or something until the place actually opens. It just lists me numbers and then tells me nobody is available so leave a message. No phone ringing or anything. So now I'm like “Great. He's going to be in a bad mood because 'I told you to call not text! How hard is it to follow directions?!'” My brain is too tired and icky right now to think of a proper response. Any ideas on ways to word it if I'm confronted?
Local McDonalds. Not even laughable
To be basically on call and 3rd shift but absolutely no incentive
I just took a double shift because some idiot at another store got stung in the mouth by a bee And now my other coworker is crying that I'm not working from 6am to 6.30 pm but taking a few hours if a break in-between my shift from 6am to 6.30. Waa waa girl stfu I'm already doing 10 hours And then when I'm boutta go home she takes her break right as I'm boutta leave so I have to stay another half hour And then another girl calls in and asks if I can cover the rest of her shift because her baby is sick. Even though her baby is sick every goddamn week and every time her baby is “sick” she comes in an hour later to drink a coffee and hang out at the store because “oh I have someone to watch her now”. So I tell…
