I reside/work in the State of California. Anyways I worked a job that I really enjoyed and they recently fired me. I had zero problems there in the past. I would show up to my shift on time, do my job to the best to my abilities, stay after work if needed and “went the extra mile” so to speak. I had no prior write ups or ANY issues whatsoever. I put a lot of time, money, emotion into this job. I did my best! I was one day injured on the job. I I injured my knee pretty badly. I told my manager that I was injured and I would like to report it to administration in case I need medical care. My manager said “no” and was REALLY upset and rude about it, so I went home. The way I was injured was a MAJOR safety violation on…

What would it take to organize a union?
With so many jobs/industries not having unions, what would it take to start one? Like a union for remote customer service workers?
“Stop being lazy…”
The key for this bathroom is supposed to hang by Starbucks. But, this bathroom is located inside a breakroom just off of Starbucks. It makes no sense to make the extra journey to put this key by Starbucks when it literally only goes to this bathroom. Like, personally I don't have the time for a scavenger hunt for this key when I gotta go, y'kno?
Uuuh, they want us to wear an ugly sweater and bake together virtually! No thnx!! I'll wear a nice sweater and just stand in my kitchen and watch, that's it.
Quick background – I’ve been working at a sales job for the past 6 months, first job out of college (I’m 23). In my offer, I was promised a guarantee for 3 months, then changed to commission only, but in writiting it said I would be given accounts that would equal to that guarantee. That did not happen for 2 months, so I went to the manager and made my case. He then spoke with the CEO, who said “if it were my kid, I think she should experience a little adversity”. How is my age relevant? How can the CEO think that she has control over any “adversity” I need? They hired me to do a job with a certain pay and that was not happening. Do I have any recourse?
Paternity leave is a joke
My brother in law had a baby 3 weeks ago and is already back at work full time. They gave him 2 weeks of leave time but he had to use up all of him personal time before he can use the two weeks. He only had 1 week vacation after 2 years of work. His wife had a C-section and has limited mobility and he has to be gone 10 hours a day.

Running a store for minimum wage.
I work at a small boutique and I want to start this off by saying that the job description was listened on handshake as “cashier.” To say that’s misleading is an understatement. Basically this job entails working eight hour shifts by yourself, running the entire store. Duties include opening the store (counting out the right amount of cash for the register, turning all the lights on, getting out more bags, etc.), dealing with vendors (every shelf is a different vendor, there’s about 25 different ones), checking out customers, bagging their stuff, mopping and vacuuming the entire store at the end every shift, helping customers find what they need (I’m supposed to promote the owners stuff first of course ), printing SKUs for new items adding them to the inventory and putting them out, keeping the store clean and neat, closing the store (vaccumming, counting the cash in the register, putting…
Sadly I had a family member I was very close to pass away this weekend. I don’t live close to my family and wasn’t there in his last moments, so I began figuring out when I need to get home for the service/ memorial etc. When i went to my executive director and told her that I would be needing to take a couple days off this week so I can fly home and make it to the service, she offered some sympathies but was adamant to remind me a few times that I would either need to take PTO, or not be compensated for my missed time (which I do not care about, i’m not thinking about making money for the days I will miss), as well as finishing an assignment for her before I leave, which I have 2 days to complete without any prior notice of having…
