Employer “forgot” to withhold local taxes. Now I owe $1,500 to the Fed. Is it appropriate to go off on my former employer?

I am livid and am taking to this sub to vent. I worked in low-level operations for this mega charter school network for 9 months in 2021 before I hit my breaking point working 70 hour weeks for a soulless, incompetent boss who lacked proper training to run a school. I was crying in closets, forced to work on weekends (outside of contracted hours), etc. Leaving was the right decision and now I have a much better job that I actually enjoy. Anyway, when I got my W-2s from this ex-employer this year, I noticed my wages were underreported and I reached out to their HR team. Turns out they misreported my earnings by $15k and issued me a new W-2C. I had an accountant look it over and he pointed out that there was nothing reported for local tax withholdings. I reached out to HR again, and they pretty…

anyone remember the movie hook where everyone’s fighting in the great final battle and smee is just loading his pockets with hooks booty?

I think about that seen when I think about what's going on with big oil…. well every mega company that's hording wealth inexplicably…. seems like everyone's preparing for a car crash none of us are aware of. Like in that other movie 2012 where they spend 3 years building giant arcs and selling seats to the super wealthy while the rest of us bicker and fight over equality and such… everything feels eerily unreal… I don't know whats coming next but I suspect it isn't going to be smol

I’m really upset about the federal push to get back into the office

So I am contracted to work for a branch of government and working from home has been so amazing. My contracting company has really shitty rules regarding when I can work. Normally, I can only work when my federal supervisor is working, and if my supervisor is off campus, I can’t go to work. With WFH in place, obviously I can work wherever I want, but only if my supervisor is also working that day. Now with the push to go back, I’ll have to go back into the office too. The problem is that I don’t live around the area anymore, so I’ll more than likely be forced to quit. This job wasn’t meant to be permanent anyway, more for recent college graduates. I’ll be going to grad school in the fall, but this means I’ll lose the income and health insurance I need for medication in the mean…

working more then 40 hours in a week should be considered more then one work week of experience on a resume (or you could just not hire people based purely on work experience)

Quit my job as a NYS Covid Contact Tracer/Case Investigator two months ago. The wage was $45/hr and my family and friends called me crazy for quitting. Exist survey asked me why I quit. Had to be honest. The job also took a bit of a toll on my mental health, I started Jan. 2021.
