Day 2 of the job, and they sent me a fake email from a company-titled email address saying that some of my payroll information wasn’t correct, and I needed to confirm the details. I can pick out phishing attempts with ease, but this looked 100% legitimate, and with it being the 1st week of employment, I was concerned that I wasn’t going to be paid due to something on my part. We had even exchanged some information and docs previously the day before about new employment forms and identification forms via email. All payroll info has been communicated via email up until this point. I clicked the link on the email and it pulled up a big red page and flagged my employee account for remediation training. Seriously, wtf??!

This was our morale in 2017…
…I just found this in my file. The black text is my advice when coworkers complained about systems not working. (Keeping those systems online was absolutely impossible with the resources we had.) …how did I not see that things were… …not right… https://preview.redd.it/3ussz8r80gn81.jpg?width=5312&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4064250eecfbde34ecce1eb8749bb0a53b2b2f28

Having to lie is so exhausting.
NSFW trigger warning for suicidal ideation (Hypothetically applying for a stocking/cleaning job at a store, minimal human interaction) “I am a team player.” working and talking with other people for long periods of time makes me suicidal and I can only stay sane if I'm working alone “I have a sharp mind.” my Complex PTSD has severely impaired my cognitive functioning “I want to work here because…” I HAVE to work here. This is my only option. Actually, this is my best option because the position doesn't require all the qualities you claim to be looking for in your customer service employees but want ME to have anyway. “I work well in a fast paced environment.” My brain and body can only handle so much stimuli before shutting down. Isn't it considered healthy communication to state your struggles and ask for help and accomodations for them? This is what I've…
To leave or to take a leave
Hi all. I am currently interviewing for a new job outside my company. I’m unhappy in my role for a number of reasons and my doctor wants me to take a medical leave bc Im having health issues brought on my stress and anxiety. I should know about these jobs I’m interviewing for by end of March. If I don’t get one of them, or I sit down and analyze and decide I don’t want one that I do get, I will go on leave for 3-6 months and during that time figure out what to do. I could use advice on timing. I’ll know about these jobs by end of the month, but my company takes about 4 weeks to approve a leave. So i can either: – apply for leave now, which notifies my boss, and be able to start leave in mid April, with the chance I…
Better to quit or be fired?
Long story short my spouse has an abusive manager. Life has been hell. Well, I have some money coming my way that I can get an advance on to help us get through. So while I don’t like the thought of us not having an income we would be… ok… for a short while. Anyway, things have been wfh for months and now they are supposed to go back. That’s fine. My spouse was prepared. But we are iced in. We are in a valley with three ways out. All icy hills. And we can’t get traction to get out. Other, better, vehicles than ours are having trouble too. He told his boss that he can’t get out and was told that it’s “fine” and that he can wfh today, but he “has to” go in tomorrow. Things have been like this for years. Every issue is responded to as…
I am already halfway done with my annual pittance of 40 hours sick time. Once for my kid and once for me. Both legit sick. Now here comes late in the year I will need to choose between possible being fired, coming in sick or unpaid time off. All bad options. This needs to change. Double it at minimum and you might actually fill some of those “job openings” I hear so much about.
$600 of salary worth fussing about?
My organization is growing and we posted a role today that is very similar to my position, in both types of responsibility and amount, but in a different department. The requirements also do not contain any kind of post secondary education, while mine requires a minimum of a degree. But the salary for this position is $600 more than what I make, and I’ve been with the company for over 5 years. Is this worth speaking up about? If so, how do I approach it? I’m NOT versed in standing up for myself in the workplace, but thanks to this sub I did mentally flag this and my knee jerk reaction was to take offence. My company has recently been showing initiative in staff retention practices so I’m just left feeling a little insulted here, even though it’s only $600 a year.
Burning employees out from the start.
This tech company I just got a job with offered me a position and I took it because it was okay pay and a condensed work week. (Rotating 3 and 4 12 hour days each week). First day of orientation was today. Sat there all day with no questions answered about how training was going to go until the last min. Then I was told I have to attend training M-F all week and then get only Saturday off before I start 4 12 hour days from Sunday to Wednesday. That’s how you burn out new employees and have them quit before they even really get started. They should maybe think about that before they post their “DeSpErAtElY nEeD pEoPlE!!” Ads…
