will I get fired for this?

My mother and I share a car, I work the third shift at AutoZone. My mother has taken the car to go to south Carolina with her boyfriend and I have no way to get a ride nor can I afford Uber fare for the week. I'm going to call in and inform them of the situation but I am extremely anxious about getting fired. Would they have a justifiable reason for termination even though this was not in my control?

I have a full-time W2 job but if I accepted a second full-time W2 job at another company, would my current employer have any (legal) way to discover this and retaliate? [USA]

Anyone notice a large up-tick in job postings?

There is a car dealership near me that has 5 locations. They posted jobs for a service manager for each location, a parts manager for each location and technicians for each location. I've noticed this for similar companies as well. Multiple jobs that never seem to get filled, just to be posted over and over. I had a message from a recruiter asking for a time to have them call me to discuss the position i applied for. I replied and heard nothing back after a week, so I messaged them again. Still nothing. I've heard businesses say “nobody wants to work” so many times it's almost infuriating. I'm wondering if there is a relation between the two. I've heard businesses were/are getting money for having openings that they can't fill because “nobody wants to work”, so they're now posting non-existent jobs to get money rather than hire people.

Was ordered to resign by my manager.

I'm currently working at a contracting company, whose name will not be disclosed, who loans out developers and other technical sorts to various other companies. Having been misplaced into a position that I was not trained for, and given an unreasonably offset shift schedule with which I have no time to eat or purchase groceries, I approached my direct manager to ask to be released from the project in order to seek another one instead. This manager's response was to tell me to send a letter indicating my resignation from the company to him and one other person who manages this specific project. I know that Texas is not a particularly healthy state in regards to workers' rights, but surely this can't be legal? Obviously, I'm not stupid enough to give them a resignation in writing just because they asked me to, but surely this manager doesn't have the authority…

Update: Was Offered a new Position. But I turned it down cuz there was no pay increase

Update to Previous post. https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/t4cyz2/was_offered_a_new_position_but_i_turned_it_down/ I took some time off to think about this situation. My team and boss were texting me during this time off. My team agreed with me, boss was begging me not to quit and talk to the VP. So Today I had an online meeting with VP and HR. It was explained to me while I'm more than capable of doing the new job, there was one issue, while it had a higher level in the posting (not management). Because I don't have a University Degree I don't qualify for that level. My words were WTF? I'm stuck at this level and salary if I choose to remain here? To which both went quiet for a few seconds then the HR person started listing the benefits of working there (To be honest some are good). To which I stopped him and said “Thank you for…

Employer adjusted wage without telling me

I live in Canada (bc) and had negotiated a fair wage for my position. When Minimum wage was raised in 2020 my employer decided that instead of raising my wage accordingly (which was about 80cents above minimum wage) they would only increase it 25 cents. I was in a managerial role btw. Also, this decision was never consulted with me and I was not informed until I asked about it after I received my paycheque. Is this something I could sue the company over? I’m now in an amazing position with a fantastic company and a great and fair salary, so I don’t have a need to sue, I’m just curious because part of me is still livid haha

If my staff screws up, I can be written up according to the “home office”.

Our HR at our location announced today if anyone continues to miss punches on the time clock, the “home office” encouraged them to WRITE UP the employees SUPERVISOR. Our location won't do it, per our locations “Manager”. But I don't know if my direct supervisor will be forced to by our off site “management”. I absolutely REFUSE to be written up for this kind of nonsense, especially since the time clock is royally messed up. I'll walk. I'm not going to take the fall for someone who inadvertently misses a punch. This is complete and utter bullshit. I'm looking for a other job.

Told to take my ear buds out at work.

I work as a courtesy clerk at a grocery store- bagging, collecting carts (manually, no mechanical cart pusher), cleaning restrooms, along with a myriad of other small things. When I go out to collect carts, I like to put in earphones and listen to podcasts- a tiny bit of joy that gets me through the day. And I have for months. But today, my manager approached me and told me to take them out, that I couldn't wear them. I know it's a small thing, and they're the boss, but on top of being understaffed, covering lots of extra shifts, and being pretty burnt out, today especially, it really just made me mad. I want to talk to them about it, but I'm pretty sure I know what I'll be told. That those are the rules, for everybody. I want to quit… I have wanted to quit. It just seems…
