Got to work this morning and was pulled aside by my boss and given two weeks notice. I recently moved to the area with my young family (9 month old and another due in May) left the job I had been at for 5 years. I am longtime reader here in r/antiwork and i am gravely worry for you American folks with how those corporate is destroying your life. Our corporate is trying destroy our life too, but at least we have some thing remotely resembles a defense against their greed in my country, Czech Republic. The reason why i am writing this is our corporate had decied to lease 7 worker to from the Czech facility to the US facility. They are not engineers, not specialized workers, just your regular blue collar worker. Because nOoNe To WorKs In ThE Ol´ UsA AnYmOrE and BiDeN HaNdOuT MoNeY. So this corporate is paying thousands USD extra to bring in 7 workers from Europe on lease for few weeks rather than put that money into their workers so they would bring new one in or betten life for those currently employed. I was employed at walmart, night shift stocker. I was getting 16.5/hour so ok for me. It paid for therapy and somewhat for psychiatry. They have a absentee point system that last for 6 months. I missed a few days, the latest I missed… Well I want to say because xanax but because I couldn't handle that day. The other days were legimate no reasons or for mental health. I got sick in late-december, my covid test came up as negative probably because I'm not like everyone in this damn rural town–actually fucking vaccinated.
