Stories of the workforce from GenZ/ Zennials

I turn 21 this year. I’ve been working ever since I was 16, and I’ve had around 5 different jobs since then, the longest being my current job, which I’ve been with about 15 months. There are many people here who have been working laboriously for many years. I want to hear stories from those who have only entered the workforce in the last decade. I myself am gonna be sharing some things that happened to me in the few years I have been in the workforce, ranging from mildly fucked up to really fucked up, things that I think are not supposed to happen to anyone at work, let alone someone who is just starting their life. I will note: others have it far worse than I did. I want to hear those stories of workers far too young to experience the pressures of this stupid ass system. Let…

Is there still a plan for a global strike?

advice for getting better suited for a job with lots of standing and heavy lifting?

so, just got a new job as a dishwasher at a really busy restaurant, i work 9 hour shifts, 5-6 days a week, and im not suited for this kind of work yet. it’s a LOT of standing, heavy hot metal and glass, etc. this question is best suited for people who may be diabetic, have chronic pain, disabilities, nurses, other restaurant workers, probably even construction people, etc. i want to be able to adapt to the new back, leg, foot, and overall muscle pain without having to take another ibuprofen every 2 hours. im going to start working out to build up more muscle and tolerance. i have compression socks, diabetic socks, shoe inserts, and a back brace all saved to my amazon cart right now. also one of those weird back vibrators lmao. im looking for anything and everything that may help me out here. i have no…

(Reposting for a friend) Should I quit? Company don’t seem to give a shit about my survival.

I accepted a job offer to work in Korea. They are a huge conglomerate in textiles. (For context of how rich they are) Long story short, they had paid for my basic relocation last time, but then my brother died, and I had to fly back to the US to take care of his matters. Now that I’m back, I’m paying everything myself. That’s fine and I accept that. However, after the funeral and all related expenses, I am left with 20$. I am currently relying on the pay-check, which will arrive on the last working day of every month (31st), so I can pay my bills and pretty much SURVIVE (food, water, place to stay). I have 20$ to get through next week, so I called the company and asked them if I can get an advance. They politely told me to go fuck myself, and that the pay…

Just started a delivery job

The owner wants 10% of all my tips from credit card transactions. He says its for taxes. On top of that, he charges the customer $3 per delivery, and only gives the driver $2 per delivery, so hes still making money off us regardless. Then when there is no delivery, we have to put hot sauce in little containers. Mind you we still have to pay gas, which is crazy right now. Any advice to dealing with owners like this?

recently at the interview..

since my current workplace is ruled by a narcissistic bully, I'm always looking for a better alternative. No sooner said than done, a job looked promising, got the call and the invitation right away. In Germany, we first use “Sie” as a polite form of address, then maybe at some point “du” = you. They offered me “du” directly, which I find strange. They then showed me all the offices, which individual offices were with the hottest equipment, expensive Apple PCs and so on. Until we came to my future desk. 1st shock: I am supposed to share an office with an overweight elderly lady. 2nd shock, the monitors were at least 10 years old, one chair was missing an armrest…that was enough for me to say no…plus they kept emphasizing what a great family they were and how happy everyone would be. That too was cringe had to…
