my workplace:
For context: I have a pretty good job (that I enjoy). I work in a field and position where you'd expect me to have a pretty good life, and my parents were very happy when I got this job, because they thought that after years of being underpaid I was finally going to be able to afford a nice life. It's the first job I've had that's in my field and related to my degree. A little while ago, I had to suddenly find a new place to live, and go from sharing expenses to living on my own. I was really nervous about it, because I didn't think I'd be able to find a place that I could afford to rent by myself. But, I did! It felt like a miracle. I found an actually decent apartment- spatious, well maintained, in a nice area- and it was affordable. I…

Any retaliation firing stories?
Even though they say they aren’t supposed to….We know it happens. I want to hear what other workers have dealt with, what happened and why. It may not be out right retaliation but something else along those lines? You know, like someone firing you quickly from an emotional burst. I’m not brave enough to share mine but it boiled down to ‘sorry, you’re a liability now that you’re aware of our shady behavior’. Of course, that’s not what they said but this is not about me, I’d like to hear from y’all.
Hello everyone, The title pretty much sums it up. I have been at my job for almost 3 years now. I have been praised for my work many times and I have always gone above and beyond. About a month ago my boss left the company, and my team was moved under a different department head. We hired a new team member (J) around the same time my boss left. He did well on the skills assessment everyone on my team has to take. However, he's not reliable with completing tasks. For example I assigned him a task that gets done every Tuesday, and I found out yesterday he hadn't done this task since mid-January. He also is assigned several files for a client that go out on Thursday, and there hasn't been a single Wednesday he's gotten all the files done. I was recently given a raise and told…
The poor driver has just come to the door with our package which I ordered a few days ago. We are in a red weather warning area and the wind is so bad that the van he was in was swaying whilst he was at the door. I will be one of those customers who complain because this poor bloke was getting absolutely battered. We are in the UK and absolutely understand if our packages are delayed by a few days , it's not the end of the world. It will be the end of that blokes families world if a tree falls on him or if his van gets blown over.
I bartend. I work hard and am great at my job, but because I'm for fair wages and safe working conditions, management has been pushing back hard on me. After today's pointless lecture, I got this in an email: Just wanted to recap the stuff we've been talking about: •Multitasking. Constantly working toward the end goal, while still being able to talk to guests etc. •Starting tasks and seeing them to completion before starting the next task. Moving in a linear fashion to expedite processes. Anyone else see how this makes no sense or am I crazy??
