Not sure if this type of opinion will resonate with this community. But I feel like the concept of the fact that from a young age everyone is essentially spiritually beat down and their interest not catered where from there on out they are expected to go to college or be a corporate worker etc. That the silliness of this entire thing could be appreciated. Like school and work IMO are very much like a prison. We have so much more potential than this. This video just compares the current education / work system to prison. Like the world is just a big prison. How free are we really? When are we going to wake up and really start being smart in the world? Anyway if this type of thing isn't appreciated here let me know. https://youtu.be/_2TC0Jti_Zo

Layoffs happen, I get it. What I'm pissed about is an ad posted on Indeed TWENTY DAYS AGO for my exact position with the exact responsibilities and the exact pay scale and perks and schedule. There has been a huge influx of new hires in the last two weeks, and then the bomb gets dropped on them that they will be laid off within the month. There are other positions available, but the schedule won't work with us for numerous reasons. Some of us are students and go to school in the day. Some of us have part time day jobs. Some of us have to look after children. We specifically sought out Mon-Thurs night shift for a reason. We can't just flip to day shift, or change our availability from Sun-Wed or Fri-Mon. It's not fair to these new people. I refuse to go “at least corporate gave us…
A buddy who works at a sandwich food chain told me about this. From my understanding, every hourly wage employee took a pay cut as the restaurant started asking for tips at checkout. What’s the solution here? I can’t help but feel like part of the problem as I usually tip everywhere I go that offers. But I didn’t assume that I was supplementing their actual wage. Now I feel like I shouldn’t tip so often, but that only hurts the worker. Was I the only naïve one who assumed tipping was only supplementing servers, and not every other food worker.
Complete lies got me a second interview
Worked as a minimum wage team member for four years, sick of being sold false promises and straight lies by management. Applied for a store manager job elsewhere out of spite and filled my CV with lies, got a phone interview, every other word was a lie. Fast forward two days and I’ve got an interview with the stores regional manager. The wages are more than double mine, even if I can get the job and blag my way through a few months before they realise I have no clue I’ll consider that a success, wish me luck.
Make it stop
This is like my first time posting in this sub so lmk if I’m doing anything wrong, but I’m just so frustrated. So this is probably gonna be a long post. I just clocked out early from my shift (this is the first time I have ever done that) and it’s because of this one shift manager. I’m 19 and still trying to navigate the professional world while navigating through my emotions. I work at this fast food place and tonight we had the lobby closed. I saw a couple of guys in the foyer and asked if they had a food delivery order since I didn’t see any mobile orders. They tell me that the app wasn’t working for them and I hesitated, but I thought it would be fine just this one time to let them in and have them order. As soon as I do, the shift…
