I don’t have a ton of variety when it comes to work experience so I apologize if I’m being ignorant. My boyfriend just got a job at Pizza Hut about a week ago. We live in Canada by the way. When he went in for the interview his manager told him that he would receive a call that night or the next day if he got the job. The next day he got the call and he had to go in to sign some paperwork within the week, there was no specific date his manager just told him to drop in whenever. These two things are slightly weird to me because the last 3 times I’ve had a job they told me I’d receive a call the next week if I got the job or not. When I did get the job they gave me a specific time I would…

Tar factory near workplace
Do you guys think it makes sense, to have a lingerie company directly next to a tar factory, just to have a much cheaper location to rent for your company? 🤔
9 months in, the company lays off 40 employees including me. I have a 1 year vesting cliff. I was a high performer, the team liked me, some higher-ups like me. They even written nice LinkedIn recommendations. In the termination papers, it's just bye. I hate this, makes me wanna antiwork. Do I have any recourse? I haven't signed the termination papers.
Do you feel like constantly calling someone pet names (or nicknames usually reserved for people you know and love) in the workplace is something that can create a hostile environment. Specifically names that are gender specific. At what point would you engage with an attorney?
Title says pretty much all. I had the day off, was contacted to come in to cover a shift, and was argued with and coerced for literally a half hour. During that call I was told: • I never cover others shifts (I do) • Responded to me saying she was being unprofessional by playing into whataboutism and pretending she was “sticking up for other employees” to make me look like a dick • I “demand” others cover my call ins and complain about them. I dont. Ive said multiple times before to coworkers they have the right to say no to anyones requests to cover them, mine included. She provided no examples of me complaining about people specifically when asked despite saying there was camera recording • Said I shit talk her at work (Again, no examples despite recordings apparently existing, just using complains I made about the JOB…
Family Business?
I moved to Canada in 2017 from another country and was right away offered a job with my wifes cousins husband so “Family”. I've worked construction my whole adult life and this was no different, only difference was this was Waterproofing. Let me start off with when I started working at this place there was no OT ever, You were forced to show up at 6:30 but didn't get paid till 7 because “I don't pay you to put your boots on and talk shit”, And some of the trucks didn't have turn signals and when asked through the proper channels for light bulbs to replace the turn signal bulbs we were yelled at “Put your hand out the fucking window and wave the way you want to go.” I worked there for 4 years and put my body through hell. Multiple slipped disc pinching my siatic nerve, breathing in…
It snowed yesterday, and I slid about 4 times coming home from work. Didn't want to risk it today, so I asked not to come in. Though “if they really need me, they can tell me no and I'll just try my best not to get into an accident” because we are under staffed. Yeah didn't work out like that. They said no, but did offer me a late start, but it was only half an hour. My though process was the roads are still going to be bad, and there will just be more cars and I lose money, so why not just come in? I got told, though text, that my supervisor is very frustrating because of all the w2s calling out whenever in snows and how I'm being passive agressive. Everyone comes off that way over text. I was “passive agressive” because I didn't take the late…
