Don’t you think it’s time to take some action?

Reddit holds enough power to crash the stock market. Why won't we use this power to unionize and plan an attack together? I like that we are sharing our stories here but I feel that it's time to, maybe, read some french history books for inspiration.

Corporations telling me that I can’t tip their workers is bullshit

Corporations (tractor supply) telling me that I cannot tip their retail associates is complete bullshit. A retail worker at tractor supply helped me load a few things into my vehicle. I appreciated the help, they did not have to help me, they could’ve walked away, but they helped me and I felt that deserved a tip. I told them thank you very much took 5 dollars out and proceeded to hand it to them. They said corporate doesn’t allow us to except tips but thank you. I said I understand when I worked at Lowe’s they said the same thing in 2008, lowes said we could be written up for taking tips. I promptly put the money underneath a the top mat of a stack of horse mats and said I hope somebody finds that. Have a good day. Fuck corporate if I want to give a tip for someone…

You know what’s nice about when we finally strike?

We don’t have to be out in the streets striking. We just have to not go to work. We can stay at home all gaming together. Or we could organize art groups. Or go on nature walks together. Form jam bands. Point is while we strike, we can all collectively come together to pursue our passions. This is about us creating the world we want to live in.

Raise denied. So frustrated and exhausted

Since my coworker left for maternity leave, I‘ve been taking over her responsibilities (hers were higher than mine). This has been going on for more than half a year and it‘s quite exhausting. I‘ve asked my boss for a raise, because I‘ve been payed the same amount since I entered this job two years ago. He agreed, since my responsibilities have doubled and I also had to train a new employee that’s supposed to help our team during my coworkers maternity leave. He brought my request to HR and our COO. They were enraged, that I dared to ask for a raise and that my job is even overpaid as it is now. They ripped my boss a new one for wasting their time. According to them, I‘m way too young (23) and have too little work experience (2 years) to receive a raise. It’s not even about the money,…

Our site management in Dell Technologies in Slovakia doesn’t want to negotiate with our labor unions about employee benefits, so our labor unions sent this meme to all employees (Our management changed “sick days” into “health days” so you can use it not only when sick :D )

My work is mad cause I started a new medication that makes me too out of it to be there. I asked them to get time off to give me space to adjust to the meds. And they really said “I’m not sure if it means your job is at risk, I will have to ask the head”… I would rather not be depressed lol

I am so gd insulted right now

Look… I've been working at my call center job for well over 5 years. And I do mean well over. I fucking hate it but I'm really good at it. It's boring. It's annoying. And it's making me miserable. Which is why I decided to finish my degree at the beginning of the pandemic. I actually only have about 2-3 semesters left. The company isn't so bad. The work is mindless enough and they work with my course schedule. And the pay, I thought, was adequate. Plus tenure so nice bit of vacation time. Oh and health insurance is nice and so is remote work So I wanted to stick it out. At first I thought I'd try and move to corporate in a department for my field. Then I was like fuck this company, I'll stay until I graduate. As I get more and more depressed and fed up,…

Exploited Social Worker- HR Told Me it’s “My Fault”

Long time lurker and appreciator of this thread and all of the sentiments. I finally have my own story and I need some advice. I'm a sole social worker in a multi-disciplinary team of non-mental health professionals at a post secondary institution. I'm responsible for the mental health and wellbeing of approximately 1200 young adults. My caseload grows and grows with no limits on when I can say no, what my scope should be, and no one to consult with due to confidentiality. For years, I've been working on proposals for senior admin to hire an additional role. The risks of only one person are endless- burnout, vicarious trauma, liability, if I'm away, there's no backup plan… Etc. I've been interviewed to tell vulnerable stories about my own mental health and how this role has impacted me in order to bolster the case. After a week of working 15-hour days…
