I know this topic isn't entirely related to antiwork but I seriously believe it should at least be discussed by its members, so mods please let this one run. I recently dug up an old paper I scribbled on in 9th grade (I'm currently 23 so this was around 2014 or 2015 and it was the periodic symbol for thorium and under it I wrote “what they don't want you to know about”. So today I sat down and went down the YouTube rabbit hole and did some Google searching. I remember for years after that I'd see videos here and there “debunking” thorium and it's potential for energy. Now I'm finding out that China and Russia have been stockpiling the element since like 2012 and its nearly impossible to find any for purchase. It's a waste material of most commercial mining and was left as waste for decades. Scientists…

Why not stir the pot?
Excuse the long post. I snapped. After about 5 years of working for this man, I snapped and funnily enough it was all over a microwave. I’ve worked my ass for this person, I was employed by them when they had a call center company, helped them grow and when the rug was pulled out from underneath that company, I was there until the day it died. That’s where the promises started coming in. “I’ll make sure you’re earning £300-500 a week!” Great! I think to myself, I’ll do just that. That was 2016. It is now 2022. I’ve earned £300 on maybe 3 separate weeks. My “boss” decided to start another insurance company, to keep a few people in jobs. It’s been nothing but a nightmare. 3 people, 0 profits in 2 years, no pay rise for me (but the few others that work there) Now you may think,…
An experience working at BMW factory
This happened around 3-4 years ago. I was working in the body shop, keep in mind this company makes billions per year. A older worker in his 50s-60s get hit by a forklift, he gets thrown maybe 5-10 feet away and is laying in middle of aisles in pain blocking “work traffic – forklifts, buggies bringing parts to lines, etc”. The emt staff at bmw get called and they get there maybe 5-10 mins later, a supervisor makes them move him “safely” out of the way so that work can resume and the vehicles can get through. The man ended up returning to work 2 or 3 weeks later and was fine, however that is one of the moments I realized these factories do not value someone’s life whatsoever, they had no reason at all to move him. 1-2 years before that, a subcontractor in the paint shop got killed…

My gf just got fired from her job
An absolutely nightmare of a job, with a thousand bosses and managers, selling the worst product you can imgine to old people, telling lies all day to scrath a crumb of money from people that can't afford the things they were buying. And even then, they tried to make her feel bad, saying that she had a bad attitude and that is not compatible with the company. I fucking hate capitalism.
