I've been working at my current job for about 5 months now and I really want to find something else & quit. I only really got this job as I moved to a new city so needed whatever I could get. I've decided to stick it out over the rest of this month as if I quit now I would ruin other people's Christmas plans and I don't wanna do that. But from January onwards I want to try to find something else. I just feel stressed & anxious about it as I hate having to quit. The place I work is one of those places where everyone is very close & that has always made me uncomfortable as I'm shy. I have a close relationship with my boss & it feels like if I quit it's insulting to her. Obviously I am going to quit if I want to,…

“Salaried”
Landed my first salaried job a few months ago, and was thrilled at the prospect of a guaranteed paycheck. Because I’m still in my 90 day trial period, I haven’t accrued PTO. So tomorrow, when I have to take time off for a medical appointment, it will be unpaid. I’m… struggling to understand this, as it indicates that I am actually hourly with a “salary” that’s just an estimate based on a 40 hr/work schedule. When I come in early, work through lunch, or stay a few minutes late, no one is counting hours. But when I have to go somewhere for two hours, my pay is withheld? Is that just the shitty tradeoff with a “9-5” type of job, or is this abnormal? Also, how many PTO days are average for my fellow American workers in a given year, in an office setting? Because I get 6 per year…
What kind of horse shit logic is that? All sorts of major companies have been sued for breaking state and federal laws on labor, safety, and other shit. Just from a quick google search… https://news.bloomberglaw.com/litigation/walmart-workers-35-million-wage-statement-deal-wins-final-nod https://www.shrm.org/resourcesandtools/legal-and-compliance/state-and-local-updates/pages/judgment-against-walmart-reversed.aspx https://www.business-humanrights.org/en/latest-news/usa-employees-to-receive-224-million-from-walmart-for-lost-wages/ Home Depot just got hit too. https://www.mselaborlaw.com/news/home-depot-agrees-pay-725-million-hourly-workers-california NEVER TRUST ANY COMPANY..EVEN AS BIG AS WAL-MART TO FOLLOW THE LAW. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO QUESTION IF A COMPANY IS DOING SOMETHING LEGALLY OR NOT.
I have left the company 2 years ago and they are still upset over me leaving them behind. They were extremely understaffed, they tried to underpay people there, they did not communicate and left us to figure everything out on our own. I was dumped with all the work while they watched me do everything. They were just horrible to us. Since I left them, they started saying rude and mean things to me. I saw through them their fakeness and wanting to keep me in a box. Goodbye
The earbuds are isotune earbuds they range from 50-100$ but they sound fuckin dreadful.why would I get something thats awful when theres way better earbuds for that price range Is there any way I can print out the sticker brand name and just stick it on my Samsung buds? I'm guessing they are doing it because maybe they make a certain % of the sales on isotune earbuds but I'm not gonna buy into that garbage.
My bosses couldn’t care less about me
I work for a small company – literally three directors, the son of one of the directors, and me. And I've been there for over 3 years. This year they've been, very subtle like, trying to get me to leave. But still pass themselves off as decent human beings. Last week I was scheduled to have what was, for me, a life-changing procedure. I was to undergo lens replacement surgery which would mean I could see without glasses. Which, for the previous 40+ years I could not and was heading the way of Mr Magoo. Not once, had they asked me about the operation. They had no interest in it at all. They didn't wish me well, didn't message me at the weekend to ask how I'd got on, and this morning said zero to me in the meeting. They've made me feel pretty shit this year, but this really…
Fired for having covid?
I work at a gas station Monday-Thursday. On Saturday I called and told my boss that my family had Covid. She said you can’t work for five days after being positive, so I’d be able to return Thursday as long as I didn’t have a fever. I had a pretty bad case of it so on Wednesday I told her I got it too, and that I can’t work tomorrow. She said ok, and at the end of our conversation I said “So I’ll see you Monday?” She said something along the lines of “As far as I know right now, yes.” Welp this morning I went in for work and she wasn’t there, her boss was covering for her as she was sick, I had just called her and she sounded pretty rough but didn’t tell me not to come in or anything. When I seen another employee training…
For some context, I work on a 2 person team with a manager and the only thing we even need to be in-person for is when we have people to talk to in-person. For the holidays, we’re going to pause operations starting on that Friday, so there’s literally no point in me going in and everything I need to do could be done from home. But since my coworker will be off that Friday, I was denied my remote day request because sOmEbOdY neEdS tO bE iN pErSoN “for coverage.” What’s the fucking point? Everybody else will either be on vacation or slacking off if they’re there, and THERE IS LITERALLY NOTHING GOING ON THAT WOULD REQUIRE ME TO BE IN PERSON. I’m not asking for much, we have to drag ourselves into office 5 goddamn days a week every fucking week because we’re “not allowed” to work from home…
I’d rather kill myself than be forced to do mundane bullshit 8 hours a day. Maybe it’s the adhd talking. Maybe it’s the nihilism talking but life is inherently pointless. We only get one opportunity at life and I’m not spending it wasting my time doing this shit. Seriously looking into homesteading or something. Anyway good morning
I refuse to add company email to my personal phone. If there’s a true emergency I can be called on my cell to talk or come in or do whatever is needed. It’s just ‘too easy’ otherwise to fall into the trap of checking and answering a few emails off hours which I’m not paid for and is MY time. This morning I came into emails from different departments and a few going back and forth on Saturday and again on Sunday. What is wrong with these people? None of it was urgent, all of it could have waited until Monday but was probably just so easy to take 2 mins and type from a phone on their couch, kids soccer field, or Starbucks but that’s NOT THE POINT. Half my coworkers have company email on their personal phones and I can’t count how many times management has assumed I…
