The tables have turned. Used to be workers didn't find out who their employer really was until the first day of work – occasional weekends meant every weekend, up to 65k salary meant 45 k. Retribution hasn't been this fun since the plague. Boss retaliation
Sent an email to my boss tonight about some issues I have at our store. She never responded but when I checked the schedule I was taken off of my shifts. I sent her a text asking her why I was taken off, to which she sends me an email saying that she's taking my email as my resignation effective immediately. I never once said I quit. Is that illegal in canada? She's been super shady about a lot and this is just putting the nail in the coffin.
“[Rayne Man] has an amazing work ethic, which was proclaimed by prior management and team members….not a task thrown at him he is afraid of….lead when needed with no concerns for success…taken over XYZ audit and owning the process…has worked hard, provided training. Have seen him shine in his short time on the team….” I've been in the role 6 months and am the go-to guy already. Across the board 3/5 “Effective”
Overworked, underpaid, and anxious
I work for a huge payroll company, and my job is currently work from home due to the pandemic. Because of COVID, we lost a HUGE chunk of our staff. Because of that, they are overworking the crap out of all of us. Now, that sounds normal, right? Well, it isn’t. We are being overworked because corporate keeps bringing in new clients, knowing damn well that they don’t have enough employees to keep up with the huge volume of clients. Wouldn’t the solution be to hire more people? They claim “hundreds of employees will join us by March.” However, neither myself or my coworkers ever see job postings anywhere for our company. Ever. You may ask why they can’t keep employees. Well, we are being paid $16.50/hr to literally run around like chickens with our heads cuts off. They force us to take care of other employee’s clients simply because…
You gotta be fucking kidding me…
My workplace shut down today
My workplace had to shut down today for the next 10 days due to everyone taking advantage of the Canadian govt benefits (You qualify if you “MAY” have Covid, anyone could have it) once everyone found out they’ll earn more from that and have to do no work. Boss is pissed. Everyone’s doing it because the govt actually pays more. Wouldn’t be shut down if he paid more but instead of doing that he’s going to take the loss. Yay Canada
American Union
What do you think would happen, how do you think it would go if America, as a whole, unionized? Rather then all the different fields and trades unionizing or attempting to unionize on their own, could the entire work force of citizens unionize together?
My husband is a construction site supervisor for a small company. Beyond being the site supervisor he also is expected to do the construction work and pickup the materials and do anything else his boss decides to heap on him that day. His boss is a very unorganized person and he often likes to throw my husband under the bus to save face to the customers. His boss currently took a job that's an hour and a half away and all my husband's coworkers are getting paid travel time but my husband isn't because he is the only worker that's paid a salary instead of hourly. There is no benefits. He gets the minimum vacation time although his boss gets very upset when my husband takes time off because the whole company has to shut down whenever my husband takes time off because things don't get done when my husband…
