I was working at a pizza deli type place that's a small owner operated place. When I started working I had specifically told the owner I could only work a certain number of hours and he kept scheduling me overtime. I eventually said fuck it and I could use the extra money. He paid cash also which was nice until awhile after I quit I received a tax form from him, but I had never given him my ss# or filled anything out. Luckily I made shit that year and was below the income bracket for having to pay taxes. Anyway on payday he gives me my cash and I run the numbers in my head and realize it's doesn't include the time and a half for the OT I worked. He tells me he isn't required to pay OT because he has under 5 employees. One of the other…

Hey there, looking for advice on advising my wife. I've told her she needs to report this client's parent for smoking while she is providing services and that all that chemical stuff is in her hair when she picks up the baby and the coatroom smells like an ashtray. I'd like to know her rights with regards to this matter. I don't think I'm overreacting and I have good communication with my wife but she is stubborn and always interests my advice as telling her what to do. Well, I advised her to document and report the incident to her employer, but then even if the dude stops smoking while she's there I don't like that she's going into this house and bringing those chemicals back around our four month old. He's cool and hes always babbling now. What do I need to know about moving forward with this?
Net 30/60/90 pay.
Net 30-90 pay scale sucks. I know some offices pay once a month and people don’t mind. But if you aren’t working full time for a company, it can be tough to get paid 30 to 90 days after being completion of contracted work. January was slow. February has been busy but it’s still tough because I won’t see this money for another month. That’s all. Just complaining.
I worked a salary office job and we were severely short staffed and I was the only one on the team with prior experience on this type of project so I worked my butt off for 3 years accruing tons of PTO because the job needs to get done. They post a job that would be a promotion and I apply and they don't even let me interview for it stating that “it would be a waste of time for the interviewers” so I interview with another company and get the promotion with them. I give them my 2 weeks notice and they inform me that the policy is for them to not pay earned vacation and my state's labor laws don't require them to. So I lost 4 weeks pay but I'm glad I don't work their anymore.
Ask stupid questions, get stupid answers
I work in mine site catering in the WA Desert, last night we had 150 (650 to 800) more people on site to feed than we had been advised, as well as being down 40% staff. This morning a supervisor asked whether we were out of anything (certain stock), apparently “my will to live” wasn’t the right answer…..
Done playing “their” games.
Mostly this is just a rant, but Friday 2/11/2022 is the day I officially became a non-believer and 100% mercenary. It's the day I looked at my finances and my life and my age and realized that, barring some sort of miracle, I was NEVER going to retire to more than bare bones subsistence level. No more games about “experience” or “future potential” or “team player” or whatever they want to say. At this point it's really simple, I will put forth “X” time on the job for “Y” amount of money and THATS IT. I'm fortunate that I have at least managed to build a decent short-term buffer and have almost no debit but at this point I'd burn it all to the ground and be homeless before I'll keep playing the game this way.
I wanna die
My supervisor just told me I gotta return to the office tomorrow and I look like shit after working for weeks and dealing with depression and anxiety and being insolated due to my severe social anxiety. I cant even walk to a store and buy new clothes and all of my clothes are worn out omfg i wanna die right now so bad im next to the kitchen and I want to stab my chest… on top of it all my mom yelled at me for acting like a kid with issues… yup im 24 and still live with her
“Keep it up”
Today I got an email from my supervisor that she sent out to everyone in our department. She was letting us all know that we were doing an amazing job with all the accounts we need to enter by the end of the month; we started with 600 accounts on Feb. 1 (about 20% more than usual due to a lot of people getting sick last month), and as of Feb. 12 we had completed 318 of them. So good job team, and all that. Out of curiosity, I went back and looked through my records to see how many of them had been mine. After adding them up, I counted 229 that I had personally entered. For those keeping track, that's about 72% of all the entered accounts. There are six of us. Basically I've done nearly three times as many accounts as everyone else combined. Let's put this…
