I was a contact salary employee at a small engineering firm. I missed a couple hours of work due to medical appointments. They gave me a paycheck Wednesday with money taken out of it for being at the Drs. I requested a meeting with my boss and the owner of the company and informed him that as a salary worker he can not deduct partial day absences due to medical reasons and that he owed me money for the hours he deducted. He obliged and gave me a new check the next day. I was then fired today for “stepping on the owners toes.” Gotta love asking for my money only to be fired. The owner also had issues with me bringing in my service dog because that meant his wife (who's hr) couldn't bring in her very untrained dog that tries to attack ups men. And at the sales…

SB 569 took effect on January 1, 2022, making it an act of discrimination, to refuse an applicant because they lack a license to drive, unless driving is an essential function of the position. Essential function is defined as something done at least once a day. Despite this, a local city government rescinded a job offer I had already accepted, because I had no license. The job was 100% in an office, with driving not listed as one of the duties. During the time it took them to rescind my already accepted offer, I had to turn down a different position with the state of Oregon. My offer was rescinded 4 days after the law took effect, and the agency has already admitted it. Actually, they can't deny it, because everything is recorded through email. I found out that I get paid less than the male foreign hires (I’m a female foreign hire), and my request for a raise was denied bc “it’s not in the budget.” But it’s in the budget for my male coworkers who have less education, certifications and experience than me. Yeah, fuck that. I’m out.
