Temp agency turned me away for THC in a medical state…

I suffer from extreme insomnia about 60% of my nights leading to upwards of 50 or more hours with no sleep. Im working on getting a medical card but insomnia isn't a listed reason to have it in my state so I have to appeal for it and it's taking a long time. My job I was at suffers from an employee number issue and I happen to be the only one who would actually show up cause everyone else was worthless. I ended up leaving because the overtime and stress was brutalizing my home life so I contacted my old work (who everyone in the office smokes) and they made me go piss test at a fed med office. Tried to fake it with clean piss. Failed. Went to a temp agency to supplement my pay for a lower paying job I took instead. They piss tested me, I…

Denied a raise

I’ve worked at the same company for 5 years. I asked for a raise this year. I make $14.70. When I asked for a raise, my manager said “well, that’s in line with what we pay” and sort of brushed me off. IDK what to do.

Client we are contracting for is requiring us to come into their offices 2-3 times a week for no other reason than “bums in seats”.

I work for a engineering consulting firm and this post honestly risks me getting fired if it somehow makes it back to me but whatever I'm sick of companies dictating to me how/where I get to work when I can easily do everything from home. We consult for many large companies including but not limited to the banks, mining corporations, telecoms etc. Mods feel free to DM me if you require proof. Anyway we have been working remotely for said client since before the pandemic and we do sometimes go into the office but not because we have to, it's because we want to i.e. maybe getting together for a team lunch or team event but never because someone decided it is a work-from-office day. Anyway the CEO of said client has now mandated that all employees, contract or permanent, have to go into the office 2-3 days a week.…

Don’t pursue a career with the USFS

I’m reposting this from r/wildfire after a couple of requests. A post I’ve made about ending my 10 year career with the United States Forest Service, and ranting areas of frustration on Reddit. I am still posting on a throwaway account to remain completely anonymous. Formatting was done via iPhone, sorry for any typos. Stop pursuing this as a career TL/DR: unhappy employee ranting After 10 years with the FS, I’m putting in my resignation. The best advice I can give to someone interested in this career is to apply your energy elsewhere. Here’s why. Advancement: advancement is painstakingly slow unless you’re willing to bounce around every few years to different forests. Which hey, more power to you if you think that fits your life style. I thought it fit mine until I became less interested in the nomad fire life and more interested in starting a family. Pay: Most…

I have a co-worker who actually works all day and all night

Although my company doesn't require us to render overtime, I have one co-worker who actually works literally all day and all night just to exceed her quota. I think it's possible she is the competitive type of person cause based on our meetings she really wants to exceed the quota (and the reward is MORE WORKLOAD thanks to the money-hungry CFO). This is working hard, not working smart. I don't understand how the f*ck do these people even function properly. It's already burning me out to work from 8-5. I guess it's her choice but personally I wouldn't waste all my time and energy to work at a company who can't even give me a high salary (it's decent but not worth the burnout).

Fired for going to a job interview

Not me but my partner Fired for the audacity of going to a job interview. They actually used the phrase Mojangles (not the place but it rhymes) should be your top priority. The problem being this interview is at lunch time and this fast food needed a drive through worker at that time. I would understand if they were especially in need of workers but only 6 day ago it was mentioned not even to bother showing up to work because they were overstaffed that day. Like how are you so overwhelmed, on only 1 day, you are going to fire someone for not being there. It is all a power play so don't stay where their problems become your problems. Go to your interview and screw those guys for trying to make you feel bad for them! Better your life and if someone is trying to hold you back,…

My job wants employees back in the office – capitalism will kill us all

As title said. Been working from home and enjoying it. But no, since the government decided it's best to ignore Covid (UK) my company decided to follow. I am not qualified enough to find new job. I've been looking for one for months, and I like the tasks I am doing – it's better than other one I had before. But I am sad and angry because there is no reason to go back to the office, yet we are being forced to. I hate everything.

2 years working for a company and all he gets is a 50 cent raise.

Ya'll I have an amazing husband, who has spent the last 2 years working hard for this complex as a Maintenance Technician. He is quiet, reserved and just does his job. no extra talking or wasting time. He is working from the time he clocks in til clock out. Worked 6 weeks straight doing on-calls when both other maintenance people caught covid and were out for several weeks sick. Did not complain. The first time he ever took off sick for himself in december, they made him use all his sick hours and saved time to limit what they had to pay in short term disability. Here is a Man, working a shit ton of hours for this company because he is the only one that can work in our small 2 person family. I have severe health problems and im immunocompromised so been avoiding the world for 2 years…

Rite Aid didn’t necessarily close as a result of shoplifting as comedian Michael Rapaport implied. Regarding theft, look first at Rite Aid’s long record of wage theft. No dig against Rapaport but there are other issues to discuss, too.

10. @riteaid, on the other hand, has been repeatedly accused of stealing millions from its employees. It has paid over $50 million in the last five years to settle accusations of wage theft for its employees, which make an average of $33,212 annuallyhttps://t.co/kDmvTyikA8— Judd Legum (@JuddLegum) February 14, 2022
