My friends said I should share this story here. I was working for a data center performing network admin duties as a contractor for $27 an hour. They hired some new management staff and hired all the other contractors as employees except me. I asked for a position 65k with benefits and 2 weeks vacation. They kept putting my offer off for weeks and I finally put it my notice. By the 6th hour, my mental energy is spent, I'm dozing off, and I'm itching to go home. I think the work day should be 5 hours. Get in, do work, get out. The 8hr day is outdated in nearly all types of work.
