My boss set me up to look like I failed.
Been sitting on this for a while, wanted to finally get it off my chest. I started a job with a new company a few years ago – they're sort of a startup in that they were about 8 years old at the time and I was the first employee other than one of the owners' wives who was a bookkeeper. One of my projects was to build a machine to help make producing our product faster. I was excited for this as it let me be creative, learn some new things, and solving problems is something I really enjoy. I was given an absolute shoe-string budget, and designed a pretty cool, mostly functional prototype. I scavenged parts from old electronics, I 3D printed a bunch of the parts after designing them myself, I spent hours upon hours of company time trying to figure out how to make this thing…
Demeaning games
Y'all can we talk about Harbor Freight? I just applied there and they made me play games made for elementary children. Stuff like quick multiplication, division, addition, matching shapes and patterns, and the staple “does this picture or this picture feel more like you?” were the featured “games”.
Excuse our error and omission

I work for a “Small company” that employees probably north of 400 employees, in a “right to work” state. Our Night Shift is responsible for all outbound product that gets delivered next day to stores. With the hiring shortage we are less then a barebones crew working 12+ hours during our slow season. We feel that we’re being taken advantage of and want to protect ourselves and get what we are worth in terms of wages and benefits. But can you even unionize a single shift in a company? Especially one as “small” as ours? We just don’t know what to do and peak season is approaching quickly which is just going to lead to more walk offs and excessive hours. Any advice or experience would help.
My internship mentor is a mess
I’m from India and this company is based in delhi. So i got an internship offer in august, i mentioned to them in the email that i can only work for 20-25hrs because i am a full time student. They said – okok, this work is not time based but performance based. They also mentioned that i will receive a certificate only after completing the work for 6 months. I DID NOT SIGN ANY CONTRACT. In the offer email they just mentioned the 6 months condition for receiving a certificate – they only boasted about their company. I tried managing everything my college and this internship till December. In December things got worse, i was very busy with projects going on, i told this to my mentor, he legit blackmailed saying if i quit they will publish my name in the website saying i did misconduct, and defame me. My…
How to qualify for unemployment?
My job is physically demanding and I’m fucking tired. I know you don’t qualify if you quit. So, do I just stop showing up? Will unemployment offices check why you were fired? Do they care? Help. I should’ve googled this question first. Lol. Thanks for the help!
Backstory, I was already working two people’s jobs during the pandemic because there was a bunch of layoffs prior to Covid. Our company got sold last year and it’s been a disaster, half of our team (I work in accounting) has quit in the past 4 months. But they haven’t replaced anyone, they’ve been just dumping work on my other two team members who are now working till midnight most days. A few weeks ago, someone had put in their two-weeks notice. Our acquiring company, which exists in another state, flew out to our state and had everyone come into the office for a week (we have all been working remote since the pandemic) So I’m thinking, they’re going to listen to our grievances and hear us out to why we’re all quitting, right? Wrong, they pretty much popped their heads in once and said “let us know if you…
For context, I've never had a job before (due to the pandemic, the fact I was in marching band and other factors in high school), so I was really excited to get a job at CFA starting at $10 an hour. I'm also black, which goes into my next paragraph. Now, on my fourth day, I want to leave or at least make a few complaints. Tonight, for example, my supervisor referred to me as “that other girl” which rubbed me off the wrong way as she knows my name, and I was one of the three girls there (the others she knows their names by heart). If that wasn't enough, she called an Asian customer on Friday a “Oriental Lady”, which also made me uncomfortable. I also have to work closings every single shift. Now, I don't mind closing but every shift can be detrimental to me. I'm also…
I’m thinking of getting a new job?
As the title says I think I might be jumping ship. I currently work as a banker for BOTW soon to be BMO and applied as a district manager for another company. So far I have 2 references that put in a good word for me which is good. I currently get paid $19.23 an hour and guaranteed my 80 hours. However the commission structure and goals is what's making me want to leave. The new job I will be getting paid somewhere between $23-$25 an hour but instead of working down the street, I will be commuting 50 minutes to the work place. It's something that I farily already know how to do. I don't know if it's worth it. I have an interview next week so hopefully it goes well! Wish me luck!
