I've had a few jobs but I'm currently experiencing something that I don't think I've experienced in my working life before. Basically, I feel like work has completely disoriented my sense of time. I struggle to notice the difference between different days. It just feels like I've been working one perpetually long day and the daytimes and night times are just meaningless aesthetics that indicate nothing. Hours have become nothing more than numbers that give me permission to take a break and I can barely remember whatever time I have off. My life feels like its moving at light speed and the only thing I can remember is working. Has anyone experienced this before? Is there a name for it? Anything I can do to mitigate it?

Basically my friend just got their first job and in their first week they are required to memorize the info of 125 different people who work for the company. They are an assist and the company wants them to know the information instead of using the cheat sheet that is next to them. They are having a difficult time doing this because they are bad at memorizing stuff like this. They told their boss they don’t believe they can do it but the boss said that he did it and therefore they should be able to do it. They also only have by the end of the week to memorize the info before doing a test they must get 100% correct on. Just want to vent this because it is ridiculous. Before you as this is in California

Hey there, after 3 years of freelancing. I am thinking of moving abroad to work for a small design agency. Unfortunately, I still have lingering thoughts of “what if I end up hating it here?” My past jobs were toxic, no boundaries, snobs, with mental gymnastics and all that. Idk if I have gained enough mental strength to go through that again. How should I go about this? I think I’m just ready to work with a team.

Last year, the UK Conservative government passed a law allowing companies to use agency staff to cover for striking workers. The UK courts have ruled today that the law was…well, I think the judge put it best. ” However, the high court judgment said that Kwarteng showed little interest in evidence or consultation and “his approach was … so unfair as to be unlawful and, indeed, irrational”. It also said that Kwarteng committed to changing regulations when “the advice to him was that it would be of negligible short-term benefit and probably be counterproductive”. ” Hey. Hey. Anti-union right wing government? Go fuck yourself. Edit for source: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/jul/13/strikers-agency-workers-high-court-verdict
I'm asking for a friend. He started a new job and he gets paid holidays. He went in on 4th of July for some OT pay. Today he found out that because he's on probation he doesn't get holiday pay and if he wouldn't have worked they would give him that holiday pay eithet. I have never heard of such a thing. Does this sound legit to you?
Hey! We usually get 8hrs of personal time per year for our birthdays. This month is my birthday, and when I checked my PTO I had my normal accrued sick and vacation time, plus 40 hours of personal time. I just requested half a week for my birthday using the personal time, I’ll see what they say. Do I have any right to keep these hours now, even if it was a mistake?
