I was working full-time for a nonprofit agency, but because of my condition we had to reduce my hours. I still completed my assignments and met my deadlines, but my schedule needed to be flexible. The quality of my work was even recognized by the national organization, which invited me to contribute to the national website. In the meantime, our executive Director created a new position and hired a new person. I was asked to train this new person regarding my projects and responsibilities. Then I was told that there was no room in the budget to sustain my position for the next calendar year. They basically replaced me by creating a different title. They had no reason or justification to get rid of me other than an unwillingness to make accommodations for my handicap. As per title, all of the above is being done at my workplace, also I had to sign a document that where it state that I'm voluntary working 45 hours. What could I do in this situation? Suck it up?, Union? Fairwork? I'd like to fix this thing without escalation and blowing everything up so I'm not sure what should be my next steps. Thanks for reading this.

Literally nearly had a Tornado touch down across the street and the second I informed my boss he came inside like it was no big deal, heard what several of us saw (had the siren and the phone alert go off) and told us to ignore it since it started moving away from our building. I have been a live-in caregiver to an elderly parent for about 5 years and will probably continue for a few more. I do not pay rent (although I could afford it), and have not had a lease in my name for over 10 years. I have good credit, but have always moved in with roommates who already had the lease. When I look at ads for rentals, a lot of scumbag landlords make a point of stating they want proof of rental history from a non-family member. I am wondering how I can create a rental history for when I need to leave. I dread being punished for caring for another person. Here, I read a few posts and immediately saw how negative this sub was so I decided to bring some positivity. It's a thing called the Teal way of working, I currently work in one, and we see everyday the bad company practices from some clients. If you have the power or the rank to make changes in your company, you should really look into the multiple benefits it brings. So I put in my 2 week notice for my current job, as I’m supposed to be working part-time (20 hours) yet because my boss continues to hire new people, despite the place Im working at struggling financially, my hours have become more like 6 hours a week, following my notice, I have received 0 hours. I work minimum wage as is, plus tips, and maybe get $200 bi-monthly. I was already planning on getting another job by mid-august, but I will not be receiving any income till then. I have enough saved to make it through and cover my expenses, but it’s just frustrating that they can just shaft my hours after already giving me barely any as is.

(vent/support seeking) This has been the worst year of my career, psychologically. I live the life of a wage slave. I will be a servant to the elite until my body literally gives out from out old age. 8 days a month of freedom. Menial servitude for the rest. Cubicle work drives me insane, manual labor is the exact same just in extreme heat and cold. We are robots doing repetitive, mind numbing tasks. Dooming another poor soul to a cubicle is cruel, especially since most people want kids out of selfish desire. Similar to wanting a pet or something You get to play dress up with a human doll for a few years and then ope get in your cubicle mr slave. A life of meaningless toil and servitude. ‘That’s life it sucks’ well why the fuck would you do this to anyone? This doesn’t even take into consideration the poverty, just the pure reality of doing menial labor until death.
