If you are thinking of coming to Australia for a better life, think again.
Category: Antiwork
“these are your hours, how are you about overtime?”. “Well, personally I don't need the extra money and prefer the time..”. “Well, we ask that yo do at least a Saturday every other week and 4 hours in the week”. Oh.. appears to be the thing for my type of work now. I had a great job. 8 while 4 until I got made redundant. Now my only job opportunities are fucking life sucking to me. 6 day weeks and then a 5 day week. Early starts, no exceptions. This. Is why I hate working. I've been so happy while I've been off. Except when job hunting. Acting like you want a job when really a fucking don't. I suffer depression. I hate living like a slave. I broke my self and worked damn hard for my last employer. And then bang, I'm redundant and now need an even shitter…
I think it's ridiculous that companies try to get you to work like 10:00 p.m. to like 7:00 a.m. for 12-13$ an hour or even those ones that try to get you to work part time no benefits from like 12:00 pm until 4:00 am. > yes I've been offered that Amazon being one< is it me or are night shifts completely underpaid and not worth it like you're giving up your whole damn life in exchange for working the night shift you'll never have a day life. Or am i being dramatic?
I’ll take my work with me on the way out
Endless cycle of BS.
I have a disability. I have an autoimmune disease which affects me on a daily basis and I can’t work full time because of this, but I try to find work regardless. No one wants to hire me because I have a disability but they’ll never say that. It’s always “We’ve chosen another candidate better suited for the job.” No work, no money. Can’t get disability because I don’t qualify. Have been trying for nearly five years. Rinse and repeat. What the hell do they expect me to do? Genuine question.
I had my 1 year employee review today. They talked about my assets and things I need to work on. Finally my manager said I need more training and in 90 days we will see about a raise. “Ok.” I said. There's no “then I walked out after handing in my 2 week notice buhahaha” like you expect. I'm definitely being exploited, the company is making bank and we are short staffed. Do I want a raise? Sure, but idk, I feel like if I get it they'll expect more from me which means more work.
Was I wrong for feeling insulted?
Applied for a high level manager job (15+ years experience plus MS in management of that specific field) got a rejection email back saying “you did not have the qualifications”. Responded back asking what kinda credentials the candidates they selected for an interview had. Got a response back that said “my mistake, you should have made the cut, when can you interview”? Am I wrong for declining?
My employer (city government) hired this consulting firm for a jobs evaluation study. The seminar said it was to look at our job descriptions, then collect data from us employees about what we do and then compare. Has anyone had any experience in this? What can I, and my fellow employees, expect?
